Possible fall-out of location based social media?
As location based social media sites like foursquare pick up momentum (I talked about it in my previous post). Here is one site that seems to have got a lot of attention lately for creating awareness on the fall out of location based social media. Previously on this site ‘Please rob me’, they had an aggregation of all public Twitter messages that have been pushed through fast-growing location-based networking site Foursquare, one of a few services that encourages people to share their current whereabouts online with friends. The purpose of the site being, if you are out then you’re definitely not at home.Foursquare – Location based social media
I must admit when my colleague told me about foursquare, my first reaction was ‘Not another social media platform’. It takes a lot of commitment to maintain the ones I am already on and now to add another one, not sure if I wanted to. But I gave it a shot and to my surprise and a pleasant one at that I released it not competing with my facebook and twitter profiles and time but kind off complements it. Four square is typical location based social networking platform that can be downloaded in form of a software application for your mobile devices like iPhone, Android, Blackberry, or Palm and for any other Smart phone devices it can be used through their mobile website.Making a mobile friendly versions of a blog.
We all know that surfing the Internet on mobile devices is getting more popular and with the popularity of the iphone its gaining more momentum. Quite a few companies have their own mobile friendly websites now. E.g. m.facebook.com and m.linkedin.com. But what about websites that are owned by small businesses and bloggers who may not have the technical expertise to create mobile friendly versions. One such service that helps bloggers to convert their blogs to a mobile friendly version is Mofuse.com. Signing up and setting up the mobile version of the site is very simple and can be done in minutes. See the mobile version of my personal blog on http://corridorconversations.mobi or http://m.corridorconversations.com (try the urls on a mobile device).
